I started training with Professor Tooke shortly after he returned from Brazil in 2005. He has been the most influential person in my BJJ career. Professor Tooke has always been very supportive and easy to talk to. His technical knowledge and grappling ability are truly on another level. I am very honored to have received my Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from him.

Prof. Tooke truly understands what it means to have a passion for teaching. From a white belt like myself to the brown belts in class, his ability to break down each techique is amazing. Always patient, always encouraging, I feel extremely lucky to have him as my instructor. I was referred to the Tooke academy from my aunt, Cecily Garcia, who trains with Prof. Tooke when she's in town.

I've trained regularly with 5 different instructors in Texas and Travis is easily the best. He takes the time to teach the nuances that make all the difference and if you have a question you don't get a half assed answer. You get a demo.

Travis is easily the top instructor I have trained with including many private lessons I have had with some of the elites. I truly have no desire to train anywhere else.

With an extremely busy work schedule, I make the time to drive my son 45 minutes each way to class twice a week with Mr. Tooke. With so many other dojos nearby..why? Genuine. Professor Tooke is both highly talented and confident, yet sincere and genuine. Because of the way he carries himself, it is replicated with those who teach and train under him, throughout the entire gym. I too have since begun training and have brought my brother and best friend along for the journey. Regardless of where you are in life, find the time to be a student. "If you're not growing, you're dying." Thank you Professor Tooke!!

Travis tooke is the best BJJ coach, period. He has created a real team experience that includes every new person walking in the door to seasoned fighters who have been coming to his gym for years. He is the reason that we drive between 240 to 300 miles ( and sometimes more)each week to get our son to his gym. The cost of gas, and time on the road take a real toll on us, BUT the invaluable training that our son gets from Travis Tooke is worth all of it.

I trained at a Tooke affiliate academy for over a year and had the pleasure of joining Professor Tooke at the main academy for his monthly Grappling Labs. Outstanding instruction, very technical in nature but broken down and demonstrated in a manner that even a beginner could understand. great Instuctor.

I started training with Professor Travis Tooke in late 2007. After training in different styles of martial arts I found my passion in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and a great instructor to learn from. I spent 17 years earning a living in the automotive industry and with almost no money I started my own academy. Now a purple belt in bjj, I have so much to thank professor Travis for. His knowledge in this wonderful art continues to grow me as a student and coach, my academy and students. Thank you Travis!

Professor Travis Tooke has an almost uncanny ability to teach and convey the many Jiu Jitsu drills, in ways his students can assimilate the concept correctly from the beginning, and apply the proper application of the given technique when is needed. Professor Tooke also leads by example by maintaining himself in an amazing physical conditioning, second to none, to incite his students to follow. Professor Travis Tooke is not only one the very best in Jiu Jitsu, but he also one of the finest instructors there is.

I know everyone believes that their Jiu Jitsu professor is the best out there but I have to say that Travis is the real deal. I've bounced about a couple of academies since I've left Houston and have not been able to find anything that comes near to the Team Tooke experience. The conditioning and the drills are insane compared to other schools I've visited but oh so rewarding in their results. Something no one has mentioned yet is his great understanding of the wrestling game and his judo. I feel that these aspects really get neglected at other schools as most people just want to pull guard all the time. His understanding of leverage, timing, and the mechanics of the human body is amazing. Super technical. Super knowledgeable. When rolling with him I don't know if he's thinking several moves ahead or just inventing moves as he goes along. I've also never felt anyone so heavy...but it's not just his technical skill I admire but he's ability to teach and actually pass his knowledge on. Travis provides an environment that fosters creativity in developing and trouble shooting your game. He is becoming more and more well known for producing champions but I think his greatest asset lies in his ability to inspire people. Travis continues to blow my mind with what is possible and I am always motivated to show up for class no matter what side of Houston I might be visiting.

Hmmmm a Gracie Barra blackbelt who has turned his academy into a Ribeiro jiu Jitsu academy affiliate.. His coaching is by far better than his actual jiu Jitsu.
